Hanover Township offers residents a variety of transportation options. From subsidized vouchers for working disabled individuals to medical visit transportation for older adults, there are a variety of services available. Residents are encouraged use this information to find a program that will assist them in maintaining an independent and healthy lifestyle.

Dial-A-Bus Program

Hanover Township Aging Services Dial-A-Bus operates a fleet of 10 vehicles, all of which are accessible for persons with disabilities. These vehicles are used to transport Township residents 55+ years of age and individuals 18+ with a disability. Disability must be documented through the Social Security Administration, Veterans Administration, or by a doctor's signature. This curb-to-curb service operates Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 3:00PM. Service is provided on a first come, first served basis and reservations should be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling (630) 483-5656. There is a suggested donation of $1.00 per trip ($2.00 round trip). Transportation is provided for medical appointments, personal business, grocery shopping, the Senior Center, and other destinations.

Riders are picked up curbside and transported throughout the Township and up to five miles beyond the Township boundaries. The service meets all requirements from the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for transportation adults with disabilities.

RTA Program

The Hanover Township Senior Center is an RTA Site for the Ride Free Program and Reduced Fare Program.  Depending on eligibility criteria, people 65+ or individuals with a permanent disability may be eligible for the Ride Free or Reduced Fare Transit Pass.  A passport-size photo is required with the application; staff are able to take the picture for you for a fee of $2.00.  No appointment is necessary, and applications are mailed out weekly.  Residents receive the pass within 4-6 weeks.

TIDE: Ticket to Ride Taxi Voucher Program

The TIDE Ticket to Ride Taxi Voucher Program is available for residents of Hanover Township, Cook County, 16 years or older, who have a physical, cognitive (mental) or developmental condition that interferes in at least one "major life activity". For the purpose of TIDE, the "major life activity" is the ability to be self-transporting (make arrangements for and travel by one's self) over distances. The TIDE Ticket to Ride Voucher Program is available for cab rides to or from work or job training only.

The TIDE Ticket to Ride program will provide transportation to work sites up to seven miles outside the boundaries of Hanover Township. Hanover Township boundaries extend North to the 90, South to Devon, and East to Barrington Road and West to Hiawatha Drive. The Cook County portions of Elgin, Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood are part of the Township. In addition, a small portion of Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg are within Hanover Township Boundaries. Transportation services for persons with disabilities are available through the Hanover Township Aging Services Department. These services are available Mon-Fri. These services are available for persons needing to get to doctor's appointments, shopping and other activities. For more information about these services, please call (630) 483-5600 .

TRIP: Township Riders Initiative Pilot

The Township is pleased to offer an additional service to residents: TRIP (Township Riders Initiative Pilot). This is a program that offers inter-township transportation for medical purposes for individuals 60+ years of age and individuals with a permanent disability 18 and older. This program provides service beyond the Township boundaries to select townships and several large hospital systems, Monday - Friday 5:00AM - 9:00PM and Saturday 7:00AM - 4:00PM.
