Emergency Services Cadet Program
The Cadet Program was established to give Township youth the opportunity to learn about emergency services. The goals of the program are to provide youth with positive role models, career guidance, and to expose them to concepts of leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement while fostering their interest, knowledge, and skills in local government and emergency management.
Cadets will serve as support personnel in the department. The roles and responsibilities of each Cadet will be based upon the cadet's age, experience, education, skills, and aptitude in carrying out Volunteer Personnel Functions.
Program Eligibility
- Ages 14-18
- Township resident or resident within five miles
- Student in good academic standing
- Complete physical examination
- Submit letter of recommendation
- No history of negative law enforcement contact
- Parent/guardian waiver
- Complete interview process with Township
Cadet Activities
The program allows for cadets to put in as much time as they can learning and growing in the Emergency Services profession.
Under the guidance of officers and advisors, cadets will have the opportunity to assist at Township events and work with department members to learn station, vehicle and equipment operations and maintenance. Cadets will also assist in traffic control support with department members and provide assistance in community outreach. During incidents and other events, cadets will provide support to command staff and communications teams.

Cadets interested in applying can complete the volunteer form or visit the Hanover Township Town Hall at 250 S. IL Route 59, Bartlett to complete an application.
