Hanover Township dedicated Runzel Reserve in 2009 for former Township Trustee and Welfare Services Director Mary Ellen 'Mel' Runzel who passed away that same year from Lung Cancer. An advocate for all residents, Mel had a special place in heart for the senior community and envisioned a place to help senior adults continue to enjoy the outdoors. The reserve consists of a pavilion, a walking path and gardens.
