Alternative Supports Program

The Alternatives Program is a school based program offered at elementary, middle and high schools within the township.  Youth are identified by school administrators based on discipline and truancy data.  Participants work in small, diverse groups which meet weekly during lunch periods.  The groups are facilitated by our staff to encourage openness to differences, healthy coping skills, bonding as a group, improved school performance, and accountability for ones actions.  Service learning field trips are offered to encourage participants to learn while giving back to their community.  The over-arching goal of the Alternatives Program is to reduce school discipline referrals, increase school connectivity, and to promote pro-social behaviors and responsibility.
