Attention Parents – Our Summer semester 2017 Tutoring Services Program will be starting June 12th.
The Hanover Township Youth and Family Services summer tutoring program is a “back to basics” approach during the summer session. The focus will be to prevent summer learning loss and retain and improve basic skills over the summer months. Summer learning loss is the loss of academic skills and knowledge over the course of the summer holiday. Our tutoring program can play a role in combatting your child’s summer learning loss. It is our belief that when students are able to participate in organized summer academic activities, they are less likely to experience the losses in academic skills and knowledge before the start of the next school year.
The summer tutoring program will allow your child to make progress without feeling the pressures of homework, quizzes and tests during the school year. Summer tutoring will give your child a chance to take a step back and work on necessary foundational skills.
This tutoring program will focus on not only reading fluently, but also comprehending what is read. In math, we will focus on mastering basic math facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. These skills will improve their mathematical sense and prepare them for higher level problem solving.
Children who attend regularly improve in academic performance and become more self-confident. Our tutors will give your child the focused attention they need.
“Last year 234 students participated in the Township’s tutoring program,” said Brian P. McGuire, Hanover Township Supervisor. “I would encourage parents that have any concerns about their child’s academic performance to contact the Township and try our program.”
The program will be offered at on Monday evenings at Hanover Township Youth and Family Services, 250 South IL Route 59, Bartlett, IL. There is a charge of $45.00 per semester, per child.
