This month we’ll discuss the novel, Slumdog Millionaire, Vikas Swarup. When Ram Mohammed Thomas, an uneducated orphan from Asia’s largest slum, answers 12 questions to win a billion rupees on an Indian TV quiz show, he startles everyone—even himself. Framed for cheating by the show’s unscrupulous producers, Ram must defend himself in the course of spinning out the tale of his extraordinary life. Viewing of the film will be followed by discussion. Books will be available at the Senior Center or contact your local library. Light snacks will be served. Registration required. Instructor: Sarah Adelphia.
